Hands-on Dataviz workshop @ ArtCenter College of Design
Pasadena California
Nov 11-14, 2024
Last November, the Data Vandals led two hands-on workshops at ArtCenter College of Design, collaborating with undergraduate and graduate students to produce large-scale, interactive data posters. While the initial goal was to create physical charts exploring themes related to nature, students quickly expanded the scope, using the opportunity to investigate their shared campus culture as well.
After three energetic hours of creative collaboration, the resulting posters were posted in the cafeteria for several weeks afterward. These playful visualizations not only celebrated joyful expression but also mapped the hidden sentiments and intentions of the ArtCenter community.

Mission statement:
Our society looks at the world through data, but data doesn’t have to live in a dusty database, it can come alive on city streets, galleries, museums and parks. The Data Vandals present data in interesting, exciting, and revolutionary new ways, stopping people in their tracks and making them want to learn more.
