2-hour workshop: LA Datathon
A fabulous event from beginning to end, the LA County Arts Datathon, “brings together arts administrators, artists, educators, data scientists, students, community advocates, researchers, civic technologists, and others to explore how we can use data to improve access to the arts.”
After a spirited series of talks in the morning, the symposium split into a few workshops of about 50 people each. Since we normally rush through our exercise in 1-hour, we had the occasion to extend our workshop in 2 ways: first, we spoke about our work and shared examples of our recently opened newsstand. Second, we wanted to give people more time to debrief at the end and share what they learned.
While the 1-hour sprint is really fun, this longer version proved to be even more engaging, even more fun, and gave us all a bit more time to get to know each other and share our enthusiasm.
